A Brief History of the Manitou Incline
The Manitou Incline was constructed in 1907 to help with the construction of a hydroelectric plant and waterline nearby. After the construction was finished, the Manitou Incline was left as a tourist attraction. Many tourists were brought to the top of the hills using a cable car to have a better look at Colorado’s spectacular views from above. But in 1990, a disaster led to the removal of its rails leaving only railroad ties that served as a massive staircase for everyone hiking the Manitou Incline.

What to Expect?
Having an inclined surface, Manitou Incline can be difficult to hike and it is not recommended when it is raining. Make sure that you plan your hiking route if you are planning to hike all the way up to the summit. There are some places where you will have to go back down while you are half-way through due to exhaustion or other possible emergencies.
